Sources and method

Each page keeps two things apart. The subject box and the dated facts — dates, promotions, title reigns, real names where public — are drawn from public reference material and are meant to be accurate. The writing around them is interpretation, and it is ours. Where a claim cannot be confirmed, it is left out rather than repeated as fact. Wrestling’s history is full of worked stories and kayfabe; we try not to pass those on as record.

The subjects here are documented well enough to pin down: most have encyclopedia entries and were covered by the wrestling press of their day. We check the record primarily against the relevant Wikipedia articles and published coverage, and we link the reference at the foot of each page so you can follow it yourself. Where accounts disagree, we say so rather than pick a side quietly.

The independent scene is thinly documented by nature. For the smaller promotions and names, the paper trail is short, and those pages are short with it.

This is an archive built by hand, and hands make mistakes. If you spot an error of fact, we want to fix it. The about page explains what the project is; corrections to the record are always welcome and always acted on.
